And here is the second installment of Still Catching Up. So take it from me photographers. Never let your blog go for six months. If you do, commit to not posting what you shot in those six months. Especially if you shot 25 or more weddings. Whew! Okay. Here are the pics! I hope you enjoy.
Julie and Glenn :: the Wedding

Allison and Andrew :: the Wedding

I have to pause here for one brief moment because as I was editing this next image, I completely fell in love with it and must give credit where it is due. Our very talented Chip shot this last image and man is it good!

Emily and Seth :: the Wedding

Scot shot many of the detail images for this wedding and this sweet ring capture is one of them. This dude seriously knows how to shoot some details!

A huge thanks to these guys for sharing their special days with me and the team here at studio563. I hope you guys are blessed in your marriages for many years to come. Thanks for stopping by and as usual, leave me a little note to let me know you where here!

Well I shot a killer bridal session today at the Magnolia Hotel. Now I have seen several of my fellow shooters in town rock the Magnolia on many occasions, but I have not had the chance to shoot there all that much. Just wanted to post something quick tonight and thought why not something from the top of today’s killer shoot? So here is a little sneak peek. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for poppin by and I hope that you had a wonderful day. Let me know what you think of this image if you have a sec. Take care.

I am exoeriencing the punishment I get for neglecting this blog for so long right now. I was shooting like a mad man even though this platform did not show it. As I continue to try and get caught up and still blog some of my favorites from my past shoots, I realized that I am going to have to compile several posts together to get current. So this is definitely a BLOGSPLOSION to quote my good friend and uber talented shooter Chip. So buckle up and get ready for some images!
Siva and Teddy :: the Wedding

Kim and Todd :: the Wedding

Tina and John :: the Wedding

Heather and Jarod :: the Wedding

A huge thanks to all of you for letting me be such a huge part of your day. Stay tuned for a couple more BLOGSPLOSION compilations coming your way real soon. Hey if you think about it leave me a comment so I’ll know you stopped by. Be blessed

The first statement I’m going to make here has nothing to do with this post. I am gaining a huge appreciation and respect for those of mine who make it a priority to fill their blogs with interesting content every day. I entered this new year with just the desire to not neglect this place and have seen how crazy a feat it is to provide something new all the time. So to those of you who provide us with fresh new content to enjoy on such a regular basis, thank you and a hearty well done!
Now to this post. I do not have a great category set aside for these types of entries because I don’t plan on many like it. Trust me I also am very well aware of my awful writing skills so I promise not to kill you with these too often
I have a good friend named Aaron Edwards. We have known each other for a very long time. He was my buddy in high school that I got into trouble with all the time. Somewhere about six or seven years ago, Jesus made a radical change in Aaron’s life. It was awesome to see and now he is always such a great source of inspiration to me when we get the chance to speak. Last night I got a call from him at what seemed to be a random time of night so I answered in hopes that all was okay. He was fine and had just put someone up in a hotel because they were on the streets and strung out. Aaron does not make much money and truly does not know where or when it is coming but still uses his own dollars to help people he comes across like this guy last night. As I sat very comfortably in my beautiful home, watching my great TV and listened to his experience from that night, I was truly blessed and inspired by his selflessness.
He began to tell me another story about meeting with some pastors in an affluent area of town and how disgusted he was by the tone of the meeting. He said that at first he was touched by the efforts that this pastor was making in the area of Social Justice. He saw many pictures of this man with starving African children and some of the amazing things that were going on with that cause. It was soon after that he began to learn of this man’s opinions of some guys here in town that are doing things “different” and was immediately turned off by the disdain in his voice. So Aaron came away thinking to himself, “why is it that we can go to Africa, dig a well, or feed some kid and then come here and slam someone for doing church ‘different’?” He said to me. “Let’s just see what would happen if we just loved others the way that Jesus does and not worry about making it a ’cause’. Why do we think that we can be effective by joining a cause if we cannot love here at home.”
Now I want to say that his tone and deifinetly my thoughts here to day are by no means belittling amazing efforts being made by some many to bring needs and love to people that are done so under an organization. I think that groups like Thirst Relief play a crucial role in giving of ourselves to provide for those in need. It was the statement that if we all LOVED the way the Jesus does then there will be no need for cause. It is so easy to find some sort of identity in a cause when really it is that our identity is in Jesus and when we live like that people’s lives around us are changed.
So please do not read this post thinking that I am anti-humanitarian efforts by any stretch. I was just truly touched by the reminder that when we love others (even those closest to us) the way the He loves, He changes people through us. That’s all for today. I hope you have a blessed day

I took this weekend off from blogging to work the world famous Bridal Extravaganza. It was nuts! It was a great time seeing a lot of our friends in the local market, making some new friends, meeting some new potential clients, and seeing some of our current clients. One of those couples was Shannon and Kyle. We met shannon and Kyle through some of our recent clients Lauren and Mark. These are just some of those people that you love immediately! Shannon, Kyle, and I went downtown to do some shooting and had a great time. The weather was not some of Houston’s best, but we had a blast anyway and came back with some great images. Here are just a few of my favorites from the shoot!

Shannon and Kyle I had a great time with you two and I want you to know that I am pumped about April 10th! Thanks again you guys for a great shoot.

Well I broke my tiny streak I had goin with the blog from New Year’s Day with all the work getting ready for the Bridal Extravaganza this weekend. I have so much to continue catching up with and I plan on doing that as soon as we are done with this show, but just so I dont get out of habit with blogging AGAIN, I thought I would share a different picture. This is my boy’s first polaroid. Okay so it is really a photogene edit of an iPhone pic, of a 3d sonogram pic, of my son Brock. I am so very pumped about the little man getting here. As cheesy or silly as it may be to preplan cool little moments or things I am going to teach him, I thought I would share one of those with you tonight. I love his name and we are excited about how strong it is. Brock Allen Davis. I love it and I think it will be great for him. And yes. His initials are B. A.D. I have decided that as soon as he can talk, that I am going to teach him to say, “My name is Brock Allen Davis. But you can call me BAD!” Goofy as that may be, I think it will be hilarious. So without further a due, My son Brock.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

So a little while back I received an email letting me know that one of my weddings was going to be published in a great magazine here in town. I was extremely stoked about it and although it was not the first time, the client was so excited, that I could not help but get pumped! Modern Luxury Brides is a great magazine and has a great staff. What an honor to be selected for publishing. Where as it has never been a key focus of our business to be published, I am thinking that in this year, that is going to change. This was so much fun to share with our client that you can bet we will focus on sharing such a cool thing with our clients from now on. Since I blogged Veronika and Kevin’s amazing wedding yesterday, I thought it appropriate to share their layout in MLB with you today.

Thanks so much MLB and Veronika and Kevin for sharing this very cool honor with us.
I hope you all were blessed today in some way. Until tomorrow.

EDITED TO ADD:
I completely forgot to mention that two of the great shots chosen for this spread were captured by the detail guru himself, Scot Wharton. Thanks buddy for always doing such a great job for us!

Back again for some more catch up posts. This time is Veronika and Kevin’s BIG day. This was one of my absolute favorite weddings last year. This wedding was a true labor of love for Veronika. She worked very hard on the details and creative side of their day and it goes without saying that her work paid off in a huge way. They were married at the wonderful Courtyard on St James in Houston, Texas. The crew there did a great job as usual helping coordinating all of the days festivites. Their gorgeous florals were put together by Lisa and team at Petals By Design. Our detail guru on team Scot was along shooting this great event with me. We had a great time shooting this wedding and working with these two and I think the images speak for themselves. Here are a few of our favorites from this great wedding.

Thank you guys so much for letting 563 share in this special time!

Next up in the blog catch up series is a great couple and a great wedding. Rachel and Mike were so awesome to work with. These guys just absolutely belong to one another. They were so comfortable and at home in each other’s arms and it was a sheer joy to shoot their special day. My boy Matthew was on second shooter duty this day as well and of course grabbed many great images. They were married at the ever beautiful Chateau Polonez of Houston, Texas. Terry at En Vogue Events did a great job pulling the details together and Rob with Events In Bloom transformed the environment with some of the most beautiful florals I have seen to date. It was a gorgeous day and a wonderful event. Here are just a few of our favorites from this amazing wedding.

What a great time! Thanks again you guys for letting us be a part of this awesome day!

Here is a great little wedding that Matthew and I shot together at the Houstonian in Richmond, Texas. Carolyn is a good friend of our friend Joni Chapman. We had the chance to meet with her and when she selected us to shoot her gorgeous affair we were quite honored. It was a great party and all in attendance had a blast. Here are just a few images from our time there on their very special days. Thanks again guys for letting us share in this special time in your lives.
